Career quest

The Career Quest program is focused on assisting seniors at KHS who are unsure about what they want to do after high school, are interested in pursuing a non-college career pathway, or those that want to take a bit more time to compare college/non-college options before selecting a path. The primary goal is for students to complete the program with clear next steps after graduation.

Career Quest kicks off in October of a student’s senior year, continuing until the end of the school year.
internship course

The Internship Program includes semester or year-long career experiences are offered in summer, fall, and spring. Some opportunities are paid, and others are unpaid. Students will have the opportunity to leave school early or arrive late to complete these experiences. Students are required to complete a minimum of eight hours at their internship site per week. Course credit is provided. Only seniors are eligible for the Internship Program.

Internships take place during the Summer, Fall, or Spring. Some can last all year depending on student and company availability. Primarily, internships last one semester (approximately 4 months).
employability course

Our Employability I and II classes are designed for sophomores-seniors looking to equip themselves with essential skills and knowledge to achieve success in the modern workforce. Employability I focuses on basic career navigating and workplace topics, while Employability II expands on those topics via experiential learning, industry-recognized credentialing, and advanced career planning.

Venture into the field to explore your career interests firsthand. We'll help connect you with a local organization and arrange a time for you to experience a "day in the life" within your chosen industry.

Presentations
Hear from industry professionals and organizations as they share their career journeys, the paths they followed, and the skills and knowledge needed for success. These presentations spotlight in-demand career pathways, including those students are curious about or may not have discovered yet.
Engage in interactive workshops and hands-on activities, from skilled trades demonstrations to in-depth resume writing sessions. These experiences provide an excellent opportunity for students to further explore and discover potential career pathways.
Career conversations
Connect with a professional in your field of interest for a brief informational interview or conversation. This is an excellent option for students looking to (a) network with professionals in their field of interest or (b) gain insights from a current professional.
site visits
Explore diverse career pathways by visiting local organizations, colleges, and trade schools. These site visits include companies in high-demand industries like healthcare, manufacturing, trades, and architecture, as well as local post-secondary programs.
mentorship
Network with a professional in your field of interest. We have professional mentors eager to support students in their post-graduation planning and career exploration. Example fields include: Finance, Architecture, Skilled Trades, Real Estate, etc.
